The Stanford Shared FACS Facility is a BSL2 Facility
Information needed prior to coming into the lab:
• Users are responsible for keeping project BSL information up to date on our website
• ALL projects, cell types, treatments, etc., MUST be listed in your SSFF registration and updated regularly
o Go to Account Info to update or add another project
Guidelines within the lab:
• No food or drink is allowed in these areas
• Good laboratory practice must be followed
• Personal protection (gloves, gown, no open-toed shoes) required
• No samples are allowed in the B015 office area
BSL-2 samples for the Analyzers:
• 10 minutes is required at the end of each appointment for cleaning
o This should be included in the appointment time
o 10% Bleach must be run for 5 minutes on high sample flow rate
o Followed by Water for 5 minutes on high sample flow rate
All Samples for Sorters:
• The Sort Sample Biosafety Form is required for ALL SORTS
o The information in this form must match one of the project descriptions listed under Account Info
BLS-2 samples for the Sorters:
• Door to sorter room must be closed while sort is in progress
• Aerosol Management system must be turned on
• 20 minutes is required at the end of each appointment for cleaning
o This should be included in the appointment time
o 10% bleach must be run for 10 minutes on a sample flow rate of 3
o Followed by EtOH and Water for 5 minutes each on a high sample flow rate
• Wipe down/disinfect sort block and Bulk injector
• Use red containers for waste
• Wipe down/disinfect work area after finishing use
Additional COVID related guidelines:
• STARS COVID training (EHS-2470) needs to be completed before entering the facility.
• The Health Check needs to be completed before entering the facility.
• Wipe all surfaces (keyboard, mouse, desktop, cytometer sample area/buttons), with Cavicide before leaving.
o Required Contact Time is 5 Minutes.
o Do not leave area prior to the end of this 5 minutes contact time; next user should not enter area until end of this time
• Wear a facial covering at all times in the lab – non-staff members must arrive at the facility with their face covering in place (staff will not be providing these). If you do not have a face covering, you will be asked to leave the facility.
• Do NOT enter the facility if you at all feeling ill, or if you currently have, or have had a fever in the last 14 days.
• Shared PPE (face shields used for emptying waste containers) should be decontaminated by spraying with cavicide after every use.
