Instrument Training

Training is NOT required for staff-assisted instrument use.  For those wishing to run samples independently, steps for instrument training are outlined below.

Pre-requisite for ALL analyzer/sorter training: 

  • Completion/understanding of BD’s “Introduction to Flow Cytometry” course module (requires Flash Player - not viewable using Chrome web browser)

ANALYZER Training

AURORA

1.  1:1 with a Training Operator ($ instr + op)

QUANTEON/PENTEON

1.  Quanteon small group (1.5 hours):  weekly, no samples needed ($120/session)
2. 1:1 with a Training Operator, bring small sample with controls ($ instr + op)

LSRII, LSRII-2, LSRII-UV, Symphony, Fortessa

SORTER Training

FACSAria SORTERS: ARIA, VERDI, AIDA, PICI, FALSTAFF, COSTELLO, DONCARLO

Pre-requisite for ALL FACSAria training:  LSRII #1 and #2 is REQUIRED; significant flow cytometry experience is highly recommended.

1. 'Aria #1' small group in-person: every other week, no samples needed ($120/session)
2. 'Aria #2' small group hands-on lab: alternating weeks with Aria #1, no samples needed ($120/session)
3 & 4. 1:1 with a Training Operator, bring small sample with controls ($ instr + op)
5 and beyond. 1:1 with a Training Operator, user runs experiments with staff oversight ($ instr + op)
